At Smile Lounge Dentistry, we believe everyone deserves a healthy smile — not just those who can afford private insurance. That is why we proudly accept the Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a federal initiative helping millions of Canadians access quality dental care without breaking the bank.
CDCP Program Eligibility
Currently the Canada Dental Care Plan is not available to all. Initially the plan was only available for seniors who are 65 years of age or above, but with the recent update children under the age of 18 are also eligible for the CDCP.
To qualify you must: be a Canadian resident for tax purposes; not have access to private dental insurance through an employer, pension, or family plan; have filed your previous year's tax return; and have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000.
What is the Canada Dental Care Plan?
The Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a government-funded program that helps eligible Canadians cover the cost of essential dental services. It is designed to remove the financial barriers that prevent many families from getting the oral care they need.
Smile Lounge Dentistry is a CDCP-approved provider. We accept plan members and will help you understand exactly what is covered before any treatment begins — from verifying your coverage to submitting your claims.
Who Is Eligible for CDCP?
The plan is currently open to seniors aged 65 and older, and children under the age of 18, provided they meet the income and insurance eligibility criteria.

Services Covered by CDCP at Smile Lounge
The CDCP covers a broad range of essential dental services, including: preventive care (cleanings, scaling, fluoride, sealants); diagnostic services (examinations and X-rays); restorative services (fillings and crowns); endodontic services (root canals); prosthodontic services (dentures); periodontal care; oral surgery; and sedation dentistry.
Some services may require preauthorization starting November 2024. During your consultation we will clearly identify which recommended treatments are covered and provide a pre-treatment estimate.

How Much Does CDCP Cover?
The percentage of eligible costs covered by the CDCP depends on your adjusted family net income. Any remaining balance is a co-payment.
